Introduction:
The latter part of the 20th century witnessed a biological revolution that opened new horizons in the life sciences and created an entirely new industry: The Biotechnology . Biotechnology is having an increasingly important impact on a number of sectors and Disciplines.

The combination of biotechnology with genomics, proteomics and metabolomics is greatly aiding our nation's ability to confront the many challenges facing production, management, and sustainability of agriculture and economic development. These challenges include enhanced crop yields and quality, development of stress-tolerant crop varieties, improved nutritional content of foods and food contaminants, increased threats to biosecurity, bioaccumulation of toxins in the environment, production of commercially important compounds from microbes, management and detection of invasive pests and diseases and public health management.


This symposium “ Genomics, proteomics, metabolomics: Recent Trends in Biotechnology”
Provide new ways to use animal, plants and microbes, resulting in improved environmental quality and economic sustainability of a country to commercialize indigenous technologies.

This platform shall also help to bridge the gap among the scientific communities throughout the world in terms of existing and still expanding frontiers of Genomics, proteomics and metabolomics.

Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics University of the Punjab, Lahore in collaboration with Higher Education Commission are honored to invite you in 1st Symposium of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics.
Theme of the present symposium is "Genomics, proteomics, metabolomics:Recent Trends in Biotechnology"


Symposium is scheduled to be held on 22nd, 23rd Oct 2007. The symposium program includes lectures by invited speakers, oral and poster presentation by other scientists including young scientists. The topics covered include:

Genomics
Proteomics
Metabolomics
Bioinformatics/Computational Biology
Biotechnology (Agriculture, Industrial, Medical, Microbial and Environmental Biotechnology)

Guidelines for Abstract Submission:

  1. Kindly send your abstract by e-mail to the following address latest by

  2. Abstract should be send by email as MS Word compatible document in
    font size 12. Times New Roman, single spacing.
  3. Capitalize the entire title, and then type the author's name(s), institution(s), city country. Underline the presenting author's name only.
  4. Body of the abstract should contain purpose of the study, methodology, result and conclusion.
  5. Abstract followed by 3-6 key words.
  6. Paper will be presented as: Oral/ Poster
Dates of Remember:


Abstract submission: 31st July 2007.
Full length paper submission: 31st August 2007

Local Delegates: 2000 Pak Rs.
Students: 1000 Pak Rs.
