It gives me great pleasure to invite you to attend the HEC Workshopon Biotechnology Training Activities in Allergy Vaccines Development in Pakistan to be held in Karachi, Pakistan, during June 3-8 2006.Eminent scientists and researchers from Pakistan and abroad have been invited to participate in this important international event in the field of molecular medicine. Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine & Drug Research University of Karachi Karachi VENUE The event will be held at Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), International Center for Chemical Sciences (ICCS), University of Karachi . SCOPE Molecular medicine is a new field that exploits advances in molecular and cellular biology to characterize how normal cellular process either fails or succeeds in subverting the disease. New knowledge in the field of vaccine development is expanding the scope up hitherto inconceivable possibilities in the search for the development of vaccines and mechanism based forms of therapy. Molecular biological study methods can be used to discover the mechanism of pathological process leading to the development of new therapeutic concepts based on the understanding of molecular medicine. SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM This one week workshop will consist of lectures and workshop sessions. The workshop sessions will concentrate on impact of environmental biological factors on allergic diseases, airborne pollen grains and spores (outdoor) as well as house dust mites, animal fragments etc. (indoor) as causative agents in respiratory allergy ,diagnostic modalities in respiratory allergy, principle of allergy vaccines and development procedures etc. etc. The laboratory work will cover experimental techniques used in the development of allergy diagnostic extracts and vaccines. Special events will be arranged to ensure a lively interaction between scientists and workshop participants.
