The Press Conference and the Scientific Communication Workshop was held in Karachi, Pakistan. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary Director PABIC, on this occasion briefly described the work plane of PABIC over the year and focuses the BICs coordination among different stakeholders around the world. He also Explain the importance of Islamic BICs Proposal in Muslim ummah.He said the growth rate is about 1.8 – 2.5% per year of Pakistan, so in order to get prodigious yield to feed the current population which is 16 million, the best opinions is the cultivation of Biotech/ G.M crops for production.

The Guest Speaker Prof. Dr. Kauser Abdullah Malik Secretary National Commission on biotechnology, said that in the last decade the awareness and researches related to biotech was increased tremendously but still there is a long way to go on..
Dr. Zafar.M. Khan Director NIBGE highlighted the biosafety issues and the role of national biosafety community (NBC) and explained the development of biotech in agriculture health environment and industrial factors. He pointed that the major constrains on biotech are technical skills infrastructure, funds, education system and lack of professionalism.
